EXCEL is a unique summer academic enrichment program that offers students entering grades 4-9 accelerated one and two-week classes. EXCEL is distinctively focused towards fostering and developing essential 21

st Century and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration in a hands-on, interactive, fun campus environment! EXCEL, an award winning program, will celebrate its 35th year this summer at Sonoma State, and has served over 23,000 students since 1982.

Join us for Tinkering Studio with LittleBits!

Play! Create! Invent! Interested in electronics and how they work? Spend a week discovering the many ways to experiment and engineer with electronic building blocks! Each color-coded littleBits® piece has a specific function (ie. motion, lights, sound, sensors, internet connectivity), and all the Bits snap together with magnets to make larger circuits. Building circuits has never been so fun! Design and create powerful, advanced electronics in a matter of seconds. Come build amazing things with us!

DINA MCCARTHY teaches Science and History at RVCS Matanzas Middle School in Santa Rosa. She has a strong background in a variety of elementary education endeavors. Dina is passionate about teaching and loves to help students develop an appreciation for learning.

Get in touch with your inner Dr. Doolittle or Jane Goodall! Have you thought about working with animals as a career? Animal career paths are as vast as the animal kingdom itself. Career fields include Medicine/Veterinary, Animal Rescue, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Animal Trainer, Habitat Specialist, Zoologist, and Animal Caretakers. Explore some of the exciting options available in careers that involve animals with guest speakers and field trips.
