Katie Barnes, ESPN senior writer and author of Fair Play: How Sports Shape the Gender Debates, examines the evolving landscape of trans athlete participation and the policy debates shaping sports. As legal and political challenges, including recent actions involving the CSU system, bring these issues to the forefront, this talk explores how media narratives, governance, and lived experiences intersect. Part of the Sport & Social Justice Lecture Series, this event invites students and faculty into a timely and critical conversation about equity and inclusion in sport.

Today, the Department of Kinesiology at Sonoma State University celebrated National Biomechanics Day (NBD)! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿบ๐Ÿšด

NBD is a worldwide, annual celebration held on the second Wednesday of April, focused on introducing high school students to the science of movement through hands-on activities.

We had the pleasure of welcoming 35 students (and their families) from Technology High School for a day full of hands-on learning. Students rotated through interactive sessions including power measurements in cycling, vertical jump testing, motion capture technology, and balance assessment using a pressure mat.

This event wouldnโ€™t have been possible without the incredible efforts of our KIN student volunteers, who led sessions and guided participants throughout the day. Your energy and dedication made this experience both educational and memorable!
