Job Description
Guides students in developing and accomplishing educational plans
Advises students about scholastic programs and academic progress
Provides information to students regarding university resources to enhance academic success and problem-solving
Coordinates (e.g., compiles, verifies, prepares) materials, information, programs, etc. as assigned
Advises/provides support to current and prospective students in various subject areas
Performs standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as necessary
Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems
Assists in the development and implementation of programs/projects according to plan and/or with guidance
Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions, and checks for understanding
Develops working relationships with functional teams
Advise freshmen/transfer students on a variety of academic issues such as course planning and selection, degree programs selection, scholastic probations, scholastic deficiency and all college/department policies and procedures as necessary. Initiate and maintain contact with students regarding academic progress.
Maintain/update student advising files
Assist students with non-academic problem solving, provide general campus information, and refer students to appropriate campus resources (Financial Aid, Counseling Services, International Affairs, Student Health Services, and Career Opportunities and Employer Relations).
Develop and present training for faculty advisors. Assist faculty by providing information regarding college policies and academic rules. Assist with department program assessment data analysis and reports.
Plan and coordinate programs to orient new students to all aspects of campus life. Conduct individual and/or group advising sessions with students
Compose written documents (references, verification letters, catalog updates, response to students inquiries, etc.) as needed. Collect and analyze data relative to advising and student academic progress. Write and distribute advising bulletin to all S&T Advising Center students each semester, as well as advising information updates to all Advising Center advisors. Critical to this position will be developing, maintain and update tools and strategies to streamline the advising process including web-based instruments (i.e. S&Tconnect, Joe’SS and Schedule Planner) and curriculum advising flowsheets.
Assist with Advising and Registrations days
Assist in analyzing and processing requests for S&T Advising Center re-admission. Determine transfer credits, other miscellaneous, manage the department’s co-op program and advise student on co-op reports. Assist with recruiting events and activities, student orientations, and other such events and functions and prepare related handouts and visual presentations.
Assist in other duties as assigned by the department director
Provides academic advising services to undergraduate Honors students by conducting individual or group advising sessions and communicates with students via telephone, email and zoom correspondence.
Willingness and ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed to support program events and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 3 years in higher education, academic office, advising, student development, or closely related experience is preferred.
Preference for person with a science/engineering background or experience advising science/engineering undergraduate students.

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team was among 301 teams nationwide that were recipients of Team Academic Awards for the 2021-22 academic year from the United Soccer Coaches as announced this week.

The academic award is the 11th awarded to the S&T's men's program, which has received the honor in five of the past six years. The Miners were one of six teams from the GLVC to earn the award over the course of last season.

The awards are presented to teams led by active members of the United Soccer Coaches with a composite grade point average of 3.0 for all players on the roster for that academic year.

The 2022 men's soccer season begins August 26 at home, when the Miners host Northeastern State at 7 PM.

The Spring 2022 S&T Career Fair will be held on February 15th and 16th, 2022. The COER has listened to feedback over the past several semesters, as we attempt to fine tune this hybrid event. We want to give students the most access to employers possible. Please read below for details about the upcoming event, including new opportunities to skip the line!
Masking will be highly encouraged. Masks and personal hand sanitizers will be offered to every student at the door. Handshaking should be avoided. Students who are immunocompromised, sick, or otherwise feel uncomfortable attending the in-person fair, can reach out to [email protected] for alternative ways to connect with the companies in attendance.

Tuesday, February 15th: Virtual Fair

9am to 3pm CST
Book meetings with employers through the Career Fair Plus app starting February 8th @ 6pm CST

The first hour (9-10am) will be for Juniors and above ONLY.
All students will be allowed 10am-3pm
Masks are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED
Many companies have requested that students wear masks out of respect for their own corporate mandates.
Employers will be spread throughout both gyms
Companies will be separated by curtains

On February 9th and 10th, 11am – 1pm the COER will be set up in the Havener Atrium with registration stations.
Students can check-in and print their name badge for the upcoming in-person fair.
Students will show this name badge at the Career Fair on the 16th to gain immediate access to the building.
Students who lose this badge or do not check-in during these times will be able to check-in at one of 20 stations across 3 entrances in Gale Bullman, on the day of the fair.
A review of what is new:

The virtual fair will be day 1 (Feb. 15th) and the in-person fair will be day 2(Feb. 16th)
Juniors, Seniors, Graduate Students, and Alumni will be the only ones allowed into the in-person fair from 9-10am
Masks will be HIGHLY ENCOURAGED of all employers and students
Early check-in for all students will be available in Havener on Feb. 9th and 10th.
