Northwest Suburban College is thrilled to welcome Dr. Debra Gurney to our executive leadership team. In her role as Dean of Academic & Student Affairs and Director of Nursing, Dr. Gurney brings extensive expertise in higher education, program development, and academic leadership.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Dr. Gurney has held key leadership positions at institutions including Aurora University, North Central College, College of DuPage, Dominican University, and the City Colleges of Chicago. She has successfully launched and overseen nursing programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, guided accreditation processes, and developed innovative student success initiatives.

Dr. Gurney’s leadership is grounded in her experience as a non-traditional student, giving her a unique perspective on student support, access, and achievement. At NWSC, she is committed to advancing academic excellence, supporting student success, and expanding opportunities in healthcare and nursing education.
