Many of the Natural State’s best and brightest rising high school seniors will spend four summer weeks on the Arkansas Tech University campus in Russellville as students at Arkansas Governor’s School 2026.

The 47th edition of AGS will begin on Sunday, July 5, and continue through Saturday, Aug. 1. Dr. Jacob Grosskopf, ATU faculty member and AGS director, said he anticipates 394 students will report for move-in day and the opening session. This will mark the eighth consecutive year that Arkansas Tech has hosted Arkansas Governor’s School.

Faculty members from Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville collaborated to host a human sciences camp for high school students on the ATU campus in Russellville June 15-19.

Campers gained hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in three aspects of human sciences: apparel, hospitality and nutrition.

The camp was made possible through a $150,000 USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture grant to teach tangible life skills to high school students in rural Arkansas.

Eighth and ninth grade students from Russellville and Clarksville are learning about some of their future academic and career options by sampling the undergraduate degree offerings at Arkansas Tech University during GEAR UP summer camps.

Camp participants are learning about agriculture, anthropology, aquatic ecology, astrochemistry, astrophysics, computer science, drawing, marketing, printmaking and tourism through a series of 50-minute presentations by ATU faculty members. The lectures include opportunities for students to engage in hands-on, interactive learning.
