Over 40 student “investors” took part in Backed by Business, a cross-campus collaboration between the College of Engineering and Science and the College of Business held during the annual Freshman Design Competition. Business students (and special guest investors President Henderson and Mrs. Tonia!) heard 60-second pitches from engineering teams, then selected their top pick based on market potential.

Congratulations to Team Faraday, this year’s winner, and thank you to the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation for hosting this entrepreneurial collaboration!

Thanks to President Henderson and Mrs. Tonia for hosting our IÉSEG School of Management students for a night of baseball at the Love Shack!

We have loved having Quentin, Titouan, Quentin, Clément, and Marius with us this quarter to experience all things Louisiana Tech and Ruston.

This year’s Student Managed Investment Fund analysts adopted an assertive stance, emphasizing investments in international and domestic defense, technology, emerging infrastructure markets, and sectors they believe are positioned for sustained long-term profitability. Their wise investment research and portfolio positioning allowed the SMIF to outperform its benchmark by 9.81% over the past 12 months.

Congratulations to each member of the Student Managed Investment Fund team and thank you to our SMIF Advisory Board members for their ongoing insight and support!

Students practiced the dos and don’ts of professional etiquette during our annual Etiquette Dinner this week. 🍽️

In addition to learning dining etiquette, Dr. Melissa Thompson gave tips on making a great impression, conversation skills, and more. We’re grateful to Graphic Packaging International for sponsoring this professional development event!
