From evening classes at McGeorge to the halls of California’s Capitol, Mariana Corona Sabeniano ’15 built a career rooted in leadership and service.

Her MSL in Government Law & Policy gave her the legal knowledge to rise to Chief of Staff in the State Senate, co-found a community political organization, and earn recognition on Sacramento’s 40 Under 40 list. Her story is an inspiring example of what an MSL can do for professionals in government and policy.

One of Professor Michael Hunter Schwartz's latest "Teaching Tidbit of the Week" blog posts discussed “Fears and Nightmares for Our Fall 2026 Classes” on TaxProf Blog.

In the blog, Schwartz gets candid about the anxieties law professors face: students who wait too long to ask for help, AI shortcuts undermining real learning, exam errors, classroom missteps, students afraid to speak up, and unhealthy competition.
