Imagining Afghanistan: A Presentation by Nivi Manchanda, PhD

IMESC is delighted to announce an upcoming presentation by Nivi Manchanda, PhD, Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the School of Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary, University of London. Professor Manchanda will discuss her recently-published book, titled "Imagining Afghanistan: The History and Politics of Imperial Knowledge." The presentation will also include a discussion of the current situation in Afghanistan and the status of women in light of recent events.

The event will be held virtually via Zoom on December 6, 2021 from 12:00-1:15pm Pacific Time.

The three workshops are geared toward K-12 teachers who may be interested in gaining more tools to support those students in their transition to the local school environment in the Sacramento area. Dolores Huerta speaks on campus this Friday!

Friday, March 13, 1:30-2:30 p.m., University Union, Ballrooms II and III.

Labor leader and civil rights activist Huerta co-founded the National Farmworkers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers. For decades, Huerta has been a leader in movements for workers’, women’s, and LGBTQIA+ rights among others.

RSVP is required to attend the lecture. Seating is limited and tickets are required for entry.

Close to fourteen percent of Sacramento State students register as homeless.
