David Silker had always carried one regret during his adult life: not finishing his bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University. But when Silker’s best friend Bill Buttweiler ‘78 was nearing the end of a cancer battle in late 2015, Buttweiler challenged him to make good on that wish. Go back and finish a degree from “our” University.

A decade later, 70-year-old Silker fulfilled his end of the deal on May 8 when he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from .

St. Cloud State University will begin delivering our Twin Cities graduate programs in partnership with North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) at NHCC’s Brooklyn Park campus in Fall 2026. The move will take effect Monday, August 3, transitioning programs currently offered at ’s Plymouth location to NHCC.

North Hennepin Community College and St. Cloud State University are sister institutions within the Minnesota State system, and this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to student success, access, and efficient use of public resources.
