Meet Javelia Morrison‑Galimore ’28, a standout Junior at St. Cloud State University pursuing a double major in Cybersecurity and Political Science, along with an Honors Integrated minor. She’s already putting her skills to work as a Cybersecurity & Risk Management Intern with the Minnesota State System Office, Information Technology Department.

In her role, Javelia supports critical efforts to strengthen and safeguard technology systems serving more than 250,000 students across Minnesota State. Her work includes:
- Contributing to third‑party risk assessments
- Reviewing security and privacy considerations
- Evaluating vendor security posture
- Supporting governance and operational processes that promote secure, resilient, student‑centered technology environments

Her advice to fellow students: “Readiness is not a feeling, it’s a decision. Some opportunities will arrive before you feel fully prepared, and that does not mean they are not meant for you. Apply for the role, ask the question, submit the application, and allow yourself to be considered.”

How the Career Center helped: The Career Center supported Javelia by taking her first LinkedIn profile photos and helping her submit her internship request through Handshake, giving her the confidence and tools to begin her professional journey.
