Cloud State Psychology Club / Psi Chi Chapter was founded in attempts to help psychology students, whether majoring, minoring, or graduate level, to come together to pursue their psychological interests. Our organization has five predominant focuses, and shifts from semester to semester to focus on what current members find most important to their interests. GRAD SCHOOL PREP:
We hold workshops dis

cussing best practices when looking for, selecting, and applying for grad schools. Advisors work on hand to help students create the best possible applications to further their education at the next level. CAREER EXPLORATION:
Throughout the semesters, different speakers are brought in from outside of the SCSU community to highlight different jobs they have gone on to pursue with their psychology degrees. Speakers have ranged from mental health professionals to business workers, the range is all dependent upon current members. SOCIALIZING OPPORTUNITIES:
The club tries to hold social events once or twice a semester for both students and faculty to get together to get to know one another. Events in the past have included bowling nights, half apps at Applebees, and even Potluck movie events. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
We have reached out in our community to help aid different volunteer programs that focus on the benefits of positive mental health. Recent volunteer trips have included multiple visits to Anna Marie's house for arts and crafts. TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES:
Usually once a year the club takes a trip to a psychological conference often times out of state. Though some are more regional, the predominant conference opportunity Psych Club attends is the Midwestern Psychological Association Conference in Chicago near the end of April. Through fundraising throughout the school year, the trip is offered to active members to actively engage with present-day cutting-edge research.

“Growing research and clinical literatures demonstrate that People of Color and Indigenous individuals' (POCI) experiences with racism, discrimination and microaggressions affect their health and sense of wellbeing. Racial trauma, a form of race-based stress, refers to POCI's reactions to dangerous events and real or perceived experiences of racial discrimination.”

linking back to the countless events around us during this time of racial violence and uprising it is important to acknowledge the healing processes that go hand in hand. A very apt and good read to understand racial trauma from a psychological point of view.
