Six psychology majors presented their research at the annual Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC) at Augsburg University, Minneapolis, on April 25, 2026.

Valerie Partida and Alicia Sylvester (advised by Dr. Majel Baker) presented their poster on “Gender and Race Stigma Consciousness Dualism and Reactions to Race and Gender Measures.”

Alicia Sylvester and Valerie Partida (advised by Dr. Majel Baker) presented their poster on “Students’ Relationships with Professors and Peers and Their Belonging Within Majors.”

Josie Braun (advised by Dr. Majel Baker) delivered an oral presentation of her research on “Peer Cultural Socialization as a Moderator of Perceived Discrimination and Ethnic-Racial Identity Exploration Among Korean Adoptees.”

Madeline Fritz and Julia Keiffer (advised by Dr. Blaine Tomkins) presented their research on “Valence-Related Effects in Word Processing Depend on Task Demands: It’s Not the Word, It’s What You Do With It.”

Amelia Brower (advised by Dr. Aubrey Immelman) presented her research on “The Personality Profile of Business Leader Elon Musk.”

Creating a Culture of Consent and Care: Community Resistance to Gender-Based Violence

Panelists include Majel Baker (Psychology, Gender Studies), Jake Jantzer (Sociology and Anthropology, Gender Studies), Shannon Smith (History, Gender Studies), Kari-Shane Davis Zimmerman (Theology), Tamara Hennes-Vix (Anna Marie's Alliance), and Bri Cornell (Central MN Sexual Assault Network)

The CSB and SJU community is reeling after recent reports of sexual violence on our campuses. Join us for an evening of discussion with a panel of faculty from History, Psychology, Sociology, Theology, and practitioners in the local community as they discuss the nature of sexual violence on college campuses, what enables this violence, and how our communities can build a culture of resistance, consent, and care.
