Interested in storytelling and video games? ENGL 294: Writing Video Games will be offered during Summer Session Two (July 13–August 20) as a fully asynchronous online course with Prof. Sal Pane. In this class, you’ll explore how professional writers and narrative designers create stories for video games and apply those techniques to design your own. No prior gaming or coding experience is required—just an interest in storytelling and creativity. By the end of the course, you’ll have two finished games to include in a professional portfolio and learned more about navigating careers in the gaming industry. The course also fulfills WAC Writing Intensive requirement, an Integrations in the Humanities requirement, and an elective for the Digital Media Arts major, the Game Design minor, and several English major and minor tracks. Prerequisite: ENGL 121 or 190.
