Last week, University of Minnesota Aquatics staff had the incredible opportunity to partner with Breakthrough Twin Cities and City of Saint Paul Aquatics!

Our team kicked off the week by providing water safety education to Breakthrough Twin Cities staff on Monday, then joined the Saint Paul Aquatics team on Thursday to help create a safe and fun environment for 150+ children swimming at Lake Phalen.

Huge thanks to all the teams involved - it was a collaboration that created a safe and memorable day in the water!🏊

Earlier this month a few staff members from the Gopher Swim School Aquatics team had the opportunity to go to the Edina Safety Camp! They taught the importance of water saftey and what it is like to be a lifeguard. We look forward to engaging with our community more this summer!

Stick with Gopher Swim School this summer with our private and semi-private lesson program! Private lessons allow for more one on one personalized time with our great instructors! Private lessons are $125 for 5 sessions and semi-privates lessons are $85 per person for 5 sessions.

Water Safety Wednesday!
Never swim alone.
Swimming should only happen when a lifeguard is on duty or a parent/guardian or friend is with you. Lifeguards don’t just watch the people in the pool, lake or ocean. Their job is also to watch the water and advise swimmers on any safety concerns and questionable conditions that might arise. They are also trained to respond quickly when something happens. Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Water Safety Festival!

Water Safety Wednesday!
Don’t Jump in the Water to Save a Friend: Reach, Throw, Don’t Go
If you see a friend struggling to keep their head above water, your first instinct may be to jump in to help. However, doing so could lead to both people drowning. Reach, throw, don’t go technique, which involves using a long object to pull a struggling swimmer to safety. By using this technique, you can help a friend without putting yourself at risk. Keep in mind - Water Safety Festival is going to be on April 27th!
