The Humanities Program is a four course series that seeks to integrate five of Bethel's general education courses - Intro to College Writing, Intro to Creative Arts, Christianity and Western Culture, Contemporary Western Life and Thought (or L course), and Christian Theology. Students read primary source material from great thinkers such as Aristotle, Plato, St. Augustine, Martin Luther, Abraham L
incoln, Voltarie, Marx, and Bonhoeffer, eliminating most textbooks. The series also features experiential learning events such as a Medieval Worship evening, SPCO concerts, two period dances, and visits to the MIA and Guthrie. Many agree that the Humanities Program has been a great part of their education and enriched learning well beyond the classroom.
