Oh the places they go...part 2
This fall Junior Anya Lindell Paulson studied in Spain and spent plenty of time exploring!
In Anya's words:
My program was CIEE Liberal Arts in Sevilla, Spain. I stayed in a homestay with a local family (a doting host mom, a 27-year old sister, 31-year old brother, and 11 year old cat (Kitty)). We lived on the very edge of the city, which meant that I got to walk a lot (I averaged 6.5 miles a day while in Spain!), and it also meant that I got to see more of the city daily than most of my friends. I had the privilege of traveling to the northern part of Spain with my host family where they have a house in the mountains--believe it or not, I missed snow and was super excited to see some there!
With regards to classes, I took six classes this semester, and took every chance I got to improve my Spanish (I hope it paid off!). My program gave me the opportunity to go on a lot of tours in the city, and a few in neighboring cities, which were always fun!
I was lucky enough to be in Spain for four months, and am thankful for all the friends I made, the places I got to travel to, and the memories I made! Some highlights included traveling with Olive to Amsterdam, teaching English at a local school, learning to manage my time so that I could travel (almost) every weekend, and doing things to explore the city like taking a rooftop tour of the Cathedral.
Some things I will definitely miss are the warm weather, the opportunity to constantly travel and explore, my new friends, visiting random coffee shops, eating delicious pastries, and of course gelato.
Sorry for all the pictures, I couldn't decide--so here are me and Olive in Amsterdam, me in Morocco, me in Granada, me in Sevilla, and then a few pictures around Sevilla.
