Celebrating our graduating Linkages mentors 💜

The Linkages Mentor Program supports first-generation students and students with significant financial need through peer mentorship, community building, and student success programming. Since 2007, Linkages mentors have helped first-year students transition into college by sharing guidance, resources, and support throughout the academic year.

Congratulations to Savannah John, Claire Weiss, Griffin Leis, Noah O’Gara, Ollie Damm, Yasmin Berganza, Leah Moore, and Kryzma Moore on graduating. Thank you for the mentorship, leadership, and support you have brought to the St. Thomas community.

Celebrating our graduating REAL Program students 💜

The Reaching Excellence in Academics and Leadership (REAL) Program is a five-week summer bridge program designed for incoming first-generation students and students with high financial need who are newly committed to attending St. Thomas. Through academics, leadership development, and community building, the program helps students transition into college life before their first semester begins.

Congratulations to Marilyn Vera, Augie Stewart, Tenzin Dhondup, Jylia Vang, Muna Abdullahi, Nicole Ngeno, Jamie Montague, Jay Lohr, Den Jeutte, Breanna Ranglall, Paige Holland and Daniel Grady on graduating and reaching this important milestone. Celebrating our graduating Dease Scholars 🎉

The Dease Scholarship Program, established in honor of former St. Thomas President Father Dennis Dease, was created to increase access to higher education for students with high financial need who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to their communities. Beyond providing a full-tuition scholarship, the program focuses on leadership development, civic engagement, and preparing students to become changemakers both on campus and beyond.

Congratulations to Alexis Nordquist, Alondra Diaz, Ashley Castellanos, Cheryl Fuentes Palma, Eh Paw, Houa Vang, Hser Htoo, Ollie Damm, Mira Chaudhry and Jennifer Canar on this important milestone. Congratulations to Iman Abdi, this year’s recipient of the $5,000 Good Trouble Legacy Scholarship 💜

Thank you for your leadership, advocacy, and commitment to racial and social justice within the St. Thomas community. The scholarship was awarded during the SDIS End of Year Celebration.

Established following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020, the Good Trouble Legacy Scholarship supports undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment to racial and social justice through their studies, leadership, and campus involvement. The scholarship honors the legacy of Representative John Lewis and his call to make “good trouble, necessary trouble.”

Third-year students may apply or self-nominate for this annual scholarship.

As we wrap up another year with Student Diversity & Inclusion Services, we want to thank every student, staff member, cultural club leader, mentor, and community member who helped make this year so meaningful. 🤍

Our End of Year Celebration was a chance to reflect on the many stories, conversations, cultural dinners, programs, and events that brought people together throughout the year. From Purple Couch conversations, cultural celebrations, and DAB (Diversity Activities Board) events to MLC Fest 2, this community continued to create spaces where students could feel seen, heard, and connected.

A special thank you to all 11 MLC (Multicultural Leadership Council) clubs for the incredible work and dedication you put into your cultural dinners and MLC Fest 2. Through food, music, performances, games, and shared experiences, we were able to celebrate the richness of cultures from across our campus community. Last month, nearly 200 students joined us at MLC Fest 2 to celebrate culture, community, and belonging together.

During the celebration, we also recognized graduating seniors, Dease Scholars, REAL students, Linkages mentors, Outstanding Commitment Award recipients, and the 2026 Good Trouble Legacy Scholarship recipient. Congratulations to everyone recognized for the impact you have made on our campus community this year.

We would also like to congratulate the winners of the MLC Fest 2 giveaway, who each received a $50 Tommie Shop gift card.

Thank you to everyone who attended our events throughout the year, supported student organizations, shared your stories, and helped build community at St. Thomas. This year was filled with meaningful moments, and we are grateful to have celebrated them together.

Lavender Lights Celebration 💜

Last Monday, we celebrated the graduation of several members of the Q***r Student Association (QSA). The evening brought people together to recognize community, accomplishments, and the impact our graduating seniors have had on campus.

With food, mocktails, and tote bag decorating, it was a great way to close out the year and celebrate together.
