The 2021 Visions of Nature/Voices of Nature Environmental Film Festival lineup has finally been announced at https://www.environmentalfilmfest.com/! This year, due to COVID-19, we are holding a smaller than usual version of the festival. We will show one film outdoors on campus, only for those approved to be on campus. We will also host one film for streaming during the festival only, and are recommending a film that is available for streaming anytime. We hope to be back in the Miller Auditorium for a full festival lineup next year!

I was touched by Jia Zhangke’s letter which made me feel the importance of kinship in our time of confinement. I aspire to d...

News coverage of the THINKINSIDE 60 Second Challenge with interviews with the winners. Thanks again to all who entered and keep making movies!

On his winning entry: “A nonhuman entity doesn’t often disrupt the entire globe in such a short period of time,” said Michael, a senior visual arts and film studies student from Plymouth, Minnesota. “I wanted to briefly capture the strangeness of the massive [COVID-19 pandemic] interruption we continue to adapt to, the uncertainty we face, and a timeline where a situation initially feels like a joke but quickly becomes menacing.”

Senior Michael Dayton wanted to capture the strangeness of the interruption of our lives caused by the pandemic. By the time you grasp what’s happening in Michael Dayton’s Hello, Goodbye, Until Next Time—the first-prize-winning entry in Eckerd College’s ThinkInside 60-Second Film Challenge.....

At Eckerd, we usually ask folks to ThinkOutside, but during the campus closure in spring 2020, we wanted to continue to connect through film no matter our distance from each other. We called Eckerd student filmmakers to submit one-minute films made and set indoors to the Eckerd Film Studies 60 Secon...
