It’s Throwback Thursday, and we are headed to 1959, when the Administration Building opened and became the library’s new home! Instead of moving trucks and carts, Salem State students formed a human chain and passed books hand-to-hand to help relocate the collection.

We are pleased to welcome the Salem State University / Nanjing Normal University dual-degree English majors of the Class of 2029 to our campus community.

After completing their first year of study in China, these students will travel to the United States this fall to begin a two-year academic experience at Salem State University. They will return to China in fall 2028 to complete the final year of their degree program.

Connect with someplace familiar, learn about someone new, and share your Salem stories. "Mapping a Century of Salem, 1926 – 2026" opens Thursday, June 18 at Old Town Hall.

Part of Salem’s quadricentennial celebration, this free public history exhibit examines the transformation of Salem over the past 100 years, combining oral histories, maps, historical photographs and more to explore how Salem evolved socially, economically and physically between the city’s 1926 tercentenary celebration and today.

Curated by Salem State University’s College of Arts and Sciences and Frederick E. Berry Library and Archives, the exhibit interprets the city’s history while sharing personal stories of those who have lived, worked, and impacted Salem over the past century.

President Keenan and the Board of Trustees gave outgoing Student Trustee Matthew Beckett '26 a warm sendoff at the completion of his term. Salem State's student trustees are elected by the student body to serve one year as one of 11 voting members of the Board of Trustees.

During the month of May Salem State University’s Center for Creative and Performing Arts held its annual Creativity Awards and Celebration of the Arts. The Creativity Awards recognizes the outstanding achievement of 10 students across the disciplines of Art + Design, creative writing, dance, music, and theatre.
