Wor-Wic bade a fond farewell to several retirees recently! Renee Dayton spent 22 years at Wor-Wic and was an essential part of the arts and humanities department as an administrative associate. Wayne Elliott was known as a go-to person in his 10 years of service as a maintenance worker at Wor-Wic, and went above and beyond by serving on the inauguration committee as well. Cheryl Todd spent many years at Wor-Wic as an associate professor of social science, and helped students as a part-time tutor as well during her 15 years here. Though Pamela Budd, associate professor of nursing, couldn't join us, nursing director Sarah Wray celebrated the irreplaceable, warm guidance and skills Pam imparted to so many of our nursing students during her 12 years at Wor-Wic. Morgan Hazel was on our board of trustees for an amazing 30 years and oversaw much growth and change at the college during his dedicated tenure.
We thank each of them for the difference they made to our students, our college and our community.

Major kudos to student Tiffany Vazquez-Figueroa! She's in the blue dress in the photo, at the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society national conference with advisor Dr. Dana Feightner. Tiffany has been selected for the 2026 All-Maryland Academic Team in recognition of achievements of students enrolled in Maryland’s community colleges, presented by Wor-Wic Community College, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa. Tiffany began her academic journey through high school dual enrollment. Initially uncertain about her career path, Tiffany discovered her passion for counseling during her first official year at Wor-Wic. She is currently completing her associate’s degree in chemical dependency counseling and plans to transfer to Salisbury University to pursue both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work.

Her long-term career goal is to empower individuals by helping them build confidence, recognize their potential, and access the tools and support needed to succeed. She is deeply committed to service and advocacy within the helping professions.

At Wor-Wic, Tiffany has demonstrated outstanding leadership and engagement. She serves as president of our PTK chapter and is an active member of the Healthy Minds Collective Club. Her involvement in PTK includes recognition as an MSR Leads Award recipient, induction into the Chapter Officer Hall of Honor, membership in a Five-Star Chapter, and participation in a Middle States Region Milestone Chapter. Her academic excellence has also been recognized through consistent placement on the Dean’s List. Guided by the quote, “No pressure, no diamonds” by Thomas Carlyle, Tiffany embodies resilience, growth and determination in her academic and personal journey.
