University of Utah Electroacoustic Ensemble

University of Utah Electroacoustic Ensemble Welcome to the official page for the University of Utah Electroacoustic Ensemble.

The students enrolled in the University of Utah Electroacoustic Ensemble are welcome to perform, conduct, improvise, and create electroacoustic music using electronic instruments such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, synthesizers, sensors, and controllers. In addition, the UEAE includes acoustic instruments; the performance of interdisciplinary pieces including non-music majors such as dancers, s

cientists, filmmakers, engineers, poets, and artists is essential to the ensemble. You can bring your instrument and equipment or use the ensemble's newly acquired equipment. The UEAE welcomes traditional acoustic instrumental or vocal music students who wish to perform experimental music, including electronic instruments. This ensemble may also be appropriate for students pursuing a Music Technology Minor by providing a valuable experience collaborating and performing with other people as we engage with other artistic departments at the University. The ensemble also welcomes students who don't have a traditional musical background or proficiency reading traditional music notation but instead have knowledge in technology and can understand different programming languages to create performance pieces and collaborate with musicians. The Electroacoustic Ensemble promotes the University's commitment to access and diversity by welcoming students from various musical, cultural, and academic backgrounds to collaborate making music together using various tools and modes of expression.

The event featured the live fusion of electroacoustic music, visual art, literature and dance inspired by Afrofuturism. Dancers from West High School performed alongside students in the U’s Electroacoustic Ensemble and English 5225 class. Joined by acclaimed producer, composer, and professor of computer music at UC San Diego, King Britt.
