Congratulations to Aaliyah Medawar, one of our Honors College students, on her new feature in SLUG Magazine! 🎉

Aaliyah sat down with Utah author and journalist Michael Finkel, whose three decades of reporting have taken him from National Geographic assignments to stories in over 50 countries. In her piece, “An Interview With A Foolish Optimist,” he shares his thoughts on curiosity, resilience, and why good journalism still matters.

We’re so proud of Aaliyah’s work. Read the full article now!

As of today, Finkel has written novels and published articles for over 50 different countries.

Founded in 1986, our Honors program has spent 40 years building programming, traditions, and pedagogy that shape who we are. This fall, we're also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Honors College.

We're incredibly proud of everything our students have accomplished over these four decades, and we're excited to step into our second decade as an Honors College with you by our side.

Ever wanted to ask your favorite author a question — in person? Our students did exactly that yesterday when NYT bestselling author Michael Finkel visited as our Practitioner in Residence; after spending the summer reading The Art Thief together as a cohort, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students.

Thank you, Michael, for a truly inspiring visit!

We loved hosting First Scholars on the Nunemaker Patio!

Our newest entering cohort of First Scholars are in the middle of our Summer Bridge programming and we are so excited to have them on campus! We caught this snapshot during their first meal together on the Nunemaker Patio.

During Summer Bridge, First Scholars meet their fellow students, get comfortable on campus, learn about campus resources, and go on an overnight adventure with our Outdoor Program!

Welcome, First Scholars 26-27 entering cohort!
