Catherine Ruetschlin and Marshall Steinbaum, assistant professors of Economics, have shared their thoughts on the COVID-19 pandemic, and why recovery will require both fiscal and public health solutions. They discuss the most beneficial types pf public spending in terms of stimulus packages and unemployment insurance, and note that we may be “facing a secondary economic disaster if [unemployment benefits aren’t] extended and the economy continues to be in a dire place.”
