Catherine Ruetschlin and Marshall Steinbaum, assistant professors of Economics, have shared their thoughts on the COVID-19 pandemic, and why recovery will require both fiscal and public health solutions. They discuss the most beneficial types pf public spending in terms of stimulus packages and unemployment insurance, and note that we may be “facing a secondary economic disaster if [unemployment benefits aren’t] extended and the economy continues to be in a dire place.”

Meet Eunice Han, assistant professor of economics, and Peter Philips, professor of economics. They recently spoke on a panel discussing the problem of high rent and low wages in Park City. Most service jobs in Park city do not pay enough to support the cost of living in the area, forcing people to commute into Summit County every day to go to work. The goal of this panel was to find some answers to this problem, and to see some of the attitudes of the business community.
