Beyond the dress is a story still being told.

Join scholars and cultural practitioners Ed Muñoz, Kiri Avelar, Annie Fukushima, and Romeo García for a conversation exploring the history, cultural meaning, performance, and ongoing relevance of La China Poblana.

Together, our panelists will explore Ballet Folklórico, El Jarabe Tapatío, migration, labor, contemporary social issues, and the cultural significance of La China Poblana across the U.S.–Mexico borderlands.

The conversation will also feature a special reading by Dr. Norma Cantú.

🌺 Crimson Conversations: Femininity at the Border | La China Poblana

Beyond the dress is a story still being told.

The Center for Community and Cultural Engagement is hosting its 2nd Annual Festival of Cultures on October 19th at the University of Utah. This event celebrates the dynamic stories, traditions, and communities that make up the University of Utah. We invite performers to share their culture, creativity, and story with the campus community.

We're looking for a variety of performances and cultural showcases that highlight what makes the University of Utah a home for all students. This could include spoken word, dance, music, cultural food or language demonstrations, short films, photography, artwork, or anything else that celebrates your community and culture.
