Join us on April 14th from 1:30pm to 2:30pm in the lower-level bays at the library to discuss the various sustainability driven efforts and decisions involved in the recent three-year retrofit and renovation project at the Eccles Health Sciences Library. Libby Haslam, founding architect at Studio LP, and Heidi Greenberg, Associate Director for Operations and Logistics at the Eccles Health Sciences Library, will each share their perspectives and insights on prioritizing sustainable building design choices and how many of those decisions are actualized in the newly retrofitted and renovated Eccles Library. The Eccles Health Sciences Library will close for construction for 3 weeks: May 19 – June 8.

During this time, crews will be conducting heavy demolition, abatement, and steel installation. These activities will be very disruptive and make the building difficult to occupy. Closing the building will also allow the work to progress more quickly and efficiently without disruption.

The Eccles Health Sciences Education Building (EHSEB) will be open 24 hours a day as a study space throughout the library closure. Security will be present. The library’s front desk staff will be available M-F, 7am-6pm in EHSEB 3100.

If you have questions, please contact EHSL staff at https://libanswers.med.utah.edu or 801-581-5534.

Sustainability efforts on the U’s health sciences campus are constant thanks to the passion of dedicated students, staff, and faculty, who care about our health system’s impact on the environment and patient health. Two campus groups involved in the work will be joining us to discuss the outlook of medical student curriculum and hospital & clinic operations from a sustainability lens. This is an update to what they’ve discussed in 2023, and there is a lot of news to share since that time! Presented by the SFESOM Sustainability in Medicine Interest Group and the UHealth Green Team.

Please get involved and join us to learn more about their latest findings!
