A friendly reminder about likely our last meeting today. It's very important to be there to take care if our end of year chapter business and talk about our bowling event. 1:00 in the usual place. This is a good time to throw your hat into ring to be an officer or just to start bring involved so that membership isn't just for the transcript!! Hope to see you all at 1 PM.

The times will be 4 PM Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of THIS week. Here is the link. http://doodle.com/4dn3zkzbzbyt3e2t

Hi Everyone,

I received this list of prizes and awards available for PAT members today. Some of the deadlines have already passed, but some are coming up. Let me know if you have questions or need help applying for any of them. I urge you all to consider doing so, especially those whose papers did well at the conference. The Paper Prize Awards are due by July 1.

Also, don’t forget to order your honor cords and sashes for graduation ASAP! I have an order form for those and other merchandise, but you can also order on the website at www.PhiAlphaTheta.org, or call (800) 394-8195. I’m not sure how long it takes for delivery so don’t delay if you are graduating next month!

Finally, if you are interested in joining OAH, Organization of American Historians, you can do so as members at a discounted price. AND the Biennial Convention is January 6-10 at Walt Disney World!! Check out the website for more info.

Hello Everyone,

I made the mistake of planning a meeting on top of an important History Department event. I apologize. Please direct your attendance to the Annual Practicing History Conference this Thursday and Friday. I have attached the poster and schedule.

Megan Dipo's award-winning paper on "Heavy Metal Culture as a New Religion” will be on Friday in the 3:45-4:45 pm panel, moderated by our own Professor John Reed (let me just repeat that: METAL CULTURE AS A NEW RELIGION? Points for amazing originality). And Ryan Spiegler's award-winning paper is the first of the entire conference!

Other PATAR members are represented, so please come on out and support our peeps!

Best,

Jeremy Lofthouse

Hello PATAR,

As Ginger noted, the regional conference went quite swimmingly. Congrats to Megan Dipo and Ryan Spiegler on their award-winning papers!

We will be meeting on Friday at 1 PM in the usual place. Within the week, you will all receive a brief survey regarding PATAR. We have had little response from our inquiries and meetings, so we're worried that some of you have "gone to the clearing at the end of the path," "bought a pine condo," or even are "basting the formaldehyde turkey!" Please take time to complete the survey which will include questions ranging from the best time to meet to what you want to get out of PATAR. If you are indeed "wandering the Elysian Fields" (or you'd like us to think that), just reply with that.

Best,

Jeremy Lofthouse

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your Spring Break. Please join me in congratulating Ryan Spiegler and Megan Dipo for winning Best Paper awards at the PAT Conference on Saturday at Weber State. We had a good showing and heard some excellent papers. I would urge you all to consider submitting your conference papers to either our journal, or to the national journal. Also, please send any photos you may have taken from the conference or from any of our events this year for our Chapter scrapbook, to be submitted to National in June.

We talked about doing another Movie Night with a Professor this semester and also an end-of-year bowling event. Please let your officers know if you are interested or available to help. The call for the next meeting will be out shortly.
