One of our most popular events of the year is celebrating 25 YEARS. Utah Philharmonia Haunted Orchestra is back at Libby Gardner Concert Hall! TWO NIGHTS: Oct. 29 & Oct. 30. It will feature voices from the U Chamber Choir, A Ca****la Chorus, and Opera Workshop as well as ballet dancers from U School of Dance. This family-friendly event encourages attendees to come dressed in costume. FREE for U students through Arts Pass. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. Get tickets today!

It's time to register for the University of Utah High School Honors Workshop! This unique and elite honor band experience is open to students grades 9-12.

While many honor bands focus on large-ensemble performance, the U emphasizes individual musicianship. Participants will perform in a large honor band, attend masterclasses with Utah Symphony and U faculty, explore chamber music (woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble), and receive coaching and mentorship from faculty and current U students.

Experience an all-Russian program, featuring one of Shostakovich’s earliest works, Piano Trio No. (1923) 1 and one of his last works, Seven Romances on Poems by Alexander Blok, Op. 127 (1967) for piano trio and voice. Featuring School of Music faculty Hasse Borup, violin; Michael Kaufman, cello; and Steven Vanhauwaert, piano, with guest vocalist Jin-Xiang Yu.

Songwriter and performer George M. Cohan looms large in the American canon with tunes like “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Give my Regards to Broadway.” In honor of America’s 250th, has organized a lecture recital: George M. Cohen’s Irish American Patriotism on Broadway. This Sunday, the U’s School of Music Associate Professor Elizabeth Craft, PhD, will share all things Cohen with the help of several performers from the SOM family.
