Our fundraiser is going strong and we are about 1/5 of the way to our goal!

When asked about what attending would mean to our oboe student Makayla, she said:

“Going to the International Double Reed Society Conference in Ohio this summer is a huge milestone in my professional career. I feel honored and excited to premiere and demonstrate a piece, as well as make connections with other double reed players!”

What kind of an impact can you make if you donate to our fundraiser to get the double reed studios to the International Double Reed Society Conference in Oxford, Ohio?

“When I was 14, I first heard about IDRS, but it has always been out of state and something I pushed out of my head as being an unattainable dream. Finding out we were invited to perform at a convention just for double reeds on a piece composed for us has been surreal, and I cannot explain how excited I am that this fundraiser can make this dream into reality in July.” - Leo Hernandez, sophomore bassoon music education major.

And we round out the last concert cycle of our 2025-2026 season (😭😭😭) with an incredible concert by the and and their performance of “Sounds of America.” The orchestra and singers sounded phenomenal, and Walter, Makayla, and Logan absolutely killed it, especially on Overture to Candide (fingers were melting off - IYKYK).

Congratulations to all our amazing double reeds, and we can wait to see that the 2026-2027 concert season brings!

Rounding out our final set of band concerts for the 2025-2026 school year, congratulations to Logan and Makayla on their incredible performances during the Wind Symphony’s Metropolis 1962 last night! You two sounded incredible and we are so proud of how far you’ve come! 🤩

Fiesta had some competition last night when the Symphonic Band absolutely laid it down with their amazing concert, Different Voices! Everyone did an amazing job, but our double reeds really sparkled! Congrats to Makayla, Samuel, Leo, and (future grad student!) Katie for lending your hard work and talents to make this concert really shine!

If you missed Sunday’s University Band concert, Anime Music, you missed out on some masterful playing from our double reeds! Congrats to Jodi, Mia, Cris, and Steven on all their hard work and practice that led to such an amazing concert - we are so proud of your hard work and grateful for your skills!

What can we say other than oh em gee, this oboe section, especially Logan who absolutely brought down the house with his gorgeous playing on the Goosens concerto last night. There are not enough words to describe how proud we are of Logan, and how thrilled we are about his growth over the last few years. 🫶🏼

The Symphonic Band had an incredible performance last night on their “Life. Light. Loss.” program. Our amazing bassoons, Walter and Leo, and fabulous oboes, Samuel and Makayla, put in a ton of effort and showed off the skills through fantastic section playing and solos. Brava, tutti!!
