The Mexican American Studies Program at the University of Texas at San Antonio offers a BA degree option, with the potential for double majoring in any of its nine concentrations: Anthropology, Communities, Families, and Children, Interdisciplinary Studies, History, Literary and Cultural Studies, Non Profit Management, Political Science, Sociology, Music, and Spanish. We prepare students for graduate school, professional careers, and commitment to community.

“Fiesta and the Coloniality of Public Celebration and Cultural Tourism,” a student symposium on Fiesta’s past and present.

Our MAS Graduate Certificate is a 12-hour certificate program that is open to graduate and doctoral students, as well as post-baccalaureate candidates who want to deepen their knowledge of Chicanx Studies theories and methodologies and bridge this critical knowledge in their policy, educational practice, community-engaged research, and advocacy work!

Don't miss our upcoming Research Symposium where our MAS undergraduate, graduate and doctoral scholars will be sharing the research they've been doing in our "Community-Based Research Methods in Environmental Justice" class this semester.

We're also excited to welcome Dr. Jessica Hernandez, a Binnizá Zapotec and Maya Ch'orti' scientist, writer, and educator.

Her talk, "Reimagining our Futures: Indigenous Science and the Impacts of Climate Displacement" will be stellar!

Check out this story on Dimas Garza of the Royal Jesters. Congratulations to Chuco Garcia on the creation of this film which will be screened tomorrow at the Little Carver, in collaboration with the West Side Sound Oral History Project!

A film screening and panel discussion on Nov. 5 will highlight the rich musical history of San Antonio's Chicano community.

The documentary You've Succeeded: The Life & Times of Dimas Garza dives into the life of the San Antonio native, who sang with groups like The Lyrics and The Royal Jesters.

The film is shown in collaboration with West Side Sound Oral History Project, a collection of scholars and community activists who aim to preserve the history of San Antonio’s music scene.
