Artist Gary Sweeney (), a renowned San Antonio artist with more than 40 years of experience creating playful, thought-provoking public art around the world, recently helped bring creativity to life at Castle Hills Elementary with art teacher Mary Gilley through the UT San Antonio Professional and Continuing Education’s Artist in Residence Program! 🎨✨

Over the course of the residency, 4th and 5th grade students had the incredible opportunity to work alongside Gary to create two permanent art installations that now brighten their campus and celebrate creativity, individuality, and self-expression.
From a vibrant mural capturing the spirit of Castle Hills to an illustrated Shel Silverstein poem encouraging students to take risks, make mistakes, and try new things, the completed pieces reflect not only artistic talent, but the confidence and joy students built throughout the experience.

We are so proud of these young artists and grateful for the meaningful partnership between Castle Hills Elementary, NEISD, and UT San Antonio PaCE that made this unforgettable experience possible. 💙🧡
Projects like this remind us how powerful the arts can be in inspiring creativity, connection, and lifelong confidence in students.

Last night, we celebrated the incredible creativity, growth, and hard work of our Teen Studio Intensive students at the 2026 Carousel Exhibition. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Russell Hill Rogers Galleries to support these talented young artists and help make the evening so special. ✨

We are beyond proud of this year’s TSI students and the amazing work they shared throughout the exhibition. A special congratulations goes out to this year’s graduating seniors as they begin exciting new chapters ahead.

This year’s seniors have been accepted into an incredible range of programs, including the University of the Incarnate Word, Cornell University, Kansas City Art Institute, Rhode Island School of Design, Northwest Vista College, and three students heading to UT San Antonio.

No matter where their paths lead next, we know their creativity and talent will continue to flourish, and we cannot wait to see what they accomplish.

If you missed the exhibition opening, there’s still time to experience their work — the gallery will be open again this Saturday. We encourage the community to come out and support these remarkable young artists. 🎨

Printmaking is everywhere, from streetwear graphics and band posters to stickers, album art, skate culture, and indie design.

It’s a bold, hands-on art style that turns carved designs into repeatable prints full of texture, pattern, and personality. 🎨✨

This summer our Cutting Edge Prints summer arts class teaches teens ages 14–18 to carve linoleum plates, ink and layer colors, experiment with textures and patterns, and create original prints completely their own.

🖌️ June 1–5, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Come try a different kind of art class and create bold prints full of color, texture, and your own personal style.

Ready to create something truly your own?
Jewelry has been part of human expression for thousands of years—crafted to tell stories, mark moments, and carry meaning across generations.
This summer, it’s your turn to be part of that tradition ✨

Start your journey with one of these classes:

One-of-a-Kind Earrings (All Levels)
Shape, hammer, and form metal into custom earrings while learning foundational techniques, from forging wire to finishing with texture and patina.
