And that’s a wrap on the 2024 ACUI Collegiate Nationals Competition!!
~~~
Trinity Trap & S***t showed up and competed with over 1150 other collegiate athletes from over 100 colleges across 32 states and didn’t leave empty handed.
With a dazzling display of skill and determination, team members Addi Lusk and Matt Cartisser both secured gold and silver medals, respectively.
Addi Lusk dominated the Ladies S***t Doubles Championship, securing the gold medal with an outright win of 90 out of 100 targets thrown two at a time. Her dedication and focus paid off, and she expressed her joy, saying, “This first year of full commitment for me has been the best experience of my college career.”
Matt Cartisser’s performance was nothing short of remarkable. His flawless score of 100 out of 100 in the preliminary rounds earned him a coveted spot in the shootoff. Facing off against 16 other top marksmen, Matt’s nerves of steel propelled him forward. After three rounds, it was down to just Matt and one other shooter. The tension was palpable as they battled it out into the fourth round. But fate can be fickle. Matt’s shot slipped away, and he reflected, “The wind pushed it up just as I fired, and I shot under it. Luck of the draw.”
The Trinity Trap & S***t Program has a storied history within the Athletic Program at Trinity. Coach Van Boerner praised this year’s team, stating, “Trinity’s long-standing legacy in Clay Target Sports has been well documented over the years, and this team marks one of the best I have had the honor of coaching. They all worked hard, and their efforts came shining through.”
