Divine Delta Chapter Zetas We are the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Delta City Chapter of San Antonio, Texas The year was 1920.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded on the simple belief that sorority elitism and socializing should not overshadow the real mission for progressive organizations - to address societal mores, ills, prejudices, poverty, and health concerns of the day. Founded January 16, 1920, Zeta began as an idea conceived by five coeds at Howard University in Washington D.C.: Arizona Cleaver, Myrtle Tyler, Viola

Tyler, Fannie Pettie and Pearl Neal. These five women, also known as our Five Pearls, dared to depart from the traditional coalitions for black women and sought to establish a new organization predicated on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood.

Today’s Finer FridayZ spotlight is Delta Chapter’s very own Vice President Soror Roberts! She is from Los Angeles, CA and holds the following positions: Vice President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated- Delta Chapter, Vice President of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Fundraising Chair of the Black Student Union, and she’s an avid volunteer with the SA Food Bank. Soror Roberts’ ambition is to work in the Criminal Justice field and educate the community and youth on their rights and laws in their jurisdiction and across the country. #1920

Zeta is an organization - a movement, a belief system that reflects, at its core, the desire to embrace Scholarship, provide true Service, to set a standard for Sisterhood and to define the noble concept of Womanhood.

Today, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment on August 18th, 1920. The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted American women the right to vote. Still, the fight for equality didn’t end there, and long fought battles continue today. We still have work to do!
