Today, April 5th, marks the start of the 504 Sit-Ins. I am going to feature different 504 demonstrators from now until April 28th, which is when the regulations were signed unchanged! Because of and “Being Heumann,” I am so glad that more people are not feeling and recognizing how I and many other disabled people felt during the protests in 1977- that this truly was a momentous point in history for disabled people. However, we continue our work today knowing there is much to be done. Image Description: a black and white photo of young Judy Heumann, a white disabled women who uses a wheelchair is talking into a microphone at the 504 demonstrations. She is wearing a coat with several protest pins on it. She has short dark hair and glasses.
