Last month, I was honored to participate in the “Dear Doc” event at the USS Midway Museum. Performers from Write Out Loud brought SDSU’s military legacy to life by reading letters sent from Aztecs serving in WWII to Dr. Lauren C. Post, professor of geography. These letters were compiled into the Aztec News Letter, which kept State’s community in contact with those in the service. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. 🚨 Don’t miss a free tour of SDSU’s historical murals THIS Sunday at 11am! Shannon Farnsworth, a recent graduate from SDSU’s Anthropology Master’s Program, will be leading the tour. Space is limited, so check out the San Diego County Archaeological Society’s website for more information: https://sdcas.org/upcomingevents/2025/sdsu-trip

Come join the San Diego County Archaeological Society on Sunday, August 24th for a free tour of the hidden murals on San Diego State University campus. The tour will be led by Shannon Farnsworth, who did her graduate dissertation on the history and archaeological importance of how these art pieces reflected the changing cultural landscape of the university and the greater San Diego area from the 1930’s to the 1970’s.

The tour is open up to 30 people. We’ll meet at 11:00 am at the dome entrance to the Malcom A. Love library. The tour will last for approximately 1.5 hours, so wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water as it will likely be warm. To sign up for the tour, please e-mail Tim Wolfe at [email protected]. They can provide more detailed directions for visitor parking on the campus and getting to the dome library.

We hope to see you out there for what will be an interesting and informative tour of the lost and forgotten murals at San Diego State University.
