Paralegal for Corporate/Estate Planning Team & Litigation Floater (Downtown San Diego)
Employment Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
Downtown San Diego law firm of 8 attorneys with a great firm culture seeks an entry level paralegal with an ABA approved paralegal certificate. This position is for the corporate, estate planning and probate team and will also be a floater for the litigation team.
Prior legal experience is not required; we will train the right candidate. Computer and organizational skills, along with common sense and the motivation to excel, are critical skills. The successful candidate will have proficient computer skills, be able to multi-task, possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) within a team setting, and be extremely detailed oriented with formatting, proofreading, grammar, spelling and writing skills. The candidate must be able to handle multiple projects without constant supervision, be proactive, organized, punctual, and be willing to become a Notary Public. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is also a plus.
Monthly parking or alternative transportation is paid. Compensation includes paid holidays, paid vacation, sick days, paid health insurance, life insurance and participation in a profit sharing plan.
Corporate/Estate Planning/Probate responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting/editing letters and complex documents in Word
- Secretary of State filings and recording documents with various County Recorders
- Corporate minute book and estate planning document organization
- Balancing checkbooks for trust administration matters
- Updating logs using Excel and Word
- Calendaring
- Inputting billing entries using Tabs3
- Client communications and scheduling appointments
- Client meetings and notarizations
- Scanning/copying and saving in appropriate location in document management system
- General office administration, including opening mail and distribution
- Shared responsibility of answering phones and greeting clients
Floater Litigation responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- California Superior Court Filings – via OneLegal and additional vendors
- US District Court Filings
- Draft pleadings, including discovery requests and responses
- Calendaring – Court Hearings and Deadlines
- Schedule Depositions
- General office administration, including opening mail and distribution
- Scanning and saving in appropriate client file in document management system (Worldox)
- Run Document Productions (currently using Eclipse SE)
- Transfer large files via OneDrive/SharePoint
The candidate must be proficient in:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Outlook
- Adobe Acrobat
- Microsoft Excel
