Roots of Giving

Roots of Giving The anual fair trade market. Give the gift of Chirstmas. If you are interested in helping, particapating or just want to keep updated, like this page!

The Roots of Giving fair trade market is an opportunity that happens every year on campus where we join in a movement to bring Christmas to its roots. We engage in fair trade, support handmade, forgive debts, care for the creation and give our time. The holiday season so easily becomes empty through over consumption. Instead we aim to be thoughtful and faithful in tangible ways of giving, sharing

and receiving. We invite non-profits and fair trade vendors, provide craft-making, play music, eat sweets, drink warm drinks and celebrate with one another. Together we can nurture a just and sustainable economy as well provide care for the creation, explore the connotations of home made, hard work, responsibility and love. As we join together, we need many hands of many talents and passions. We need the gifts of:

Media: film, photography, art, design, advertising, spreading the word, documenting
Moving hands: decorating the space, setting up for the event
Church Relations: connecting the Church, working with Church vendors, inviting churches
Vendors: coordinating participants, organizing, helping at a booth, working with various crafts
Music: providing mood for the night
Food: baking treats for our guests and participants

Whether your part is large or small, if its making spread sheets or scarves, it is needed. Come cultivate hope this Christmas!
