Interfraternity Council at UCSD

Purpose:

The Interfraternity Council’s (IFC) main purpose is to promote and help facilitate community throughout the whole Greek System through programming and judicial accountability. This includes, but not restricted to, leadership conferences, Interfraternity sports competitions, as well as recognizing individuals and chapters for outstanding scholarship, philanthropic service, risk managemen

t practices, and overall chapter management. First, there is the executive board, which is made up of 10 men from all IFC chapters, that act as the leaders and facilitators of the vision, recruitment, judicial procedures, athletics, scholarship, and community of the IFC and its member chapters. Second, there is the Board of Directors, which is made up of 12 men from all IFC chapters, that assist the executive board in the planning and implementation of all the events and resources that the IFC provides to the member chapters. Lastly, there is the President’s Council, which is composed of all the presidents of the 14 member chapters, one representative for each member chapter, as well as the entire IFC Executive Board. The President’s Council acts as the legislative body of the Interfraternity Council. The main events that the Interfraternity Council puts on along side the Panhellenic Council are Greek Awards, Greek Week, and Excel. Other resources and events include Greek Columns, the All Greek Cook-Off, the IFC Block Party, and the Annual Scholarship Banquet. The Greek System is also composed of satellite organizations that also help foster activism, outreach, social responsibility, spiritual growth, and community at UC San Diego. These include Greeks Gone Green, the UC San Diego Alumni Association, Order of Omega, Greek Intervarsity, Greeks Against D runk Driving, and Greeks Against Sexual Assault. Above all, the Interfraternity Council provides an experience. For the men who are looking to not only receive a world class education, but also an experience that will complement your studies, this would be the adventure to help set that foundation for future success. The most important people in your life are family and friends, to which one will find both in the Greek Life. You will be able to develop and fine tune leadership, scholarship, social, and accountability skills that will be crucial to the world beyond college. You will be able to express yourself and your interests in the chapters and satellite organizations that we have.
