🍄When we describe natural organisms as “straight” or through a s*x or gender binary, we are prescribing human-made terms onto the natural world and adopting a harmful anthropocentric mindset. 🌊 Nature is fluid and free!

🌱For more information, there are plenty of scholarly resources in the field of Q***r Ecology which detail its importance and larger connection to environmental science, politics, climate change, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, etc.

For questions and accommodations, email [email protected].

The term undocumented means to live in a country without documentation. 🦋 Many undocumented individuals have lived in their country of residence for their entire lives, while others may have only recently immigrated to their country of residence. 🌲Q***r is an identity claimed by some individuals to describe the fluidity of identity within s*xuality and/or gender. 🌈
The word undocuq***r was coined and popularized to highlight the intersection between the two identities for those who are undocumented and q***r and/or transgender! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Some undocuq***r individuals may feel like they have to choose one identity over the other due to a lack of representation and visibility in either community. However, for many, both identities majorly shape a person’s experience of the world and The Pride Center would like to remind undocuq***r individuals that all of their identities are valid and beautiful, and can be all held, valued, and cared for at the same time! 🫂💕

🍃🪵Nature is full of examples of q***rness; in fact, there is a whole field of study dedicated to it called q***r ecology! 🌿📚
The aim of the field is to recognize that nature is fluid and non-binary, and to celebrate the diversity in nature. 🐢

✨For more information, there are plenty of scholarly resources in the field of Q***r Ecology which detail the field’s importance and larger connection to environmental science, politics, climate change, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, etc.

🎉February is Black History Month! In honor of the month, we are highlighting the Black Gay Pride Movement and its history. 🏳️‍🌈🤎🖤

The organization currently known as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History sponsored the second week of February to honor Black history in 1926. This week was specifically chosen as it coincided with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, both important figures to the abolitionist movement. Schools, communities, and cities across the nation adopted the week and organized local communities. In the 1960s, the week had become Black History Month across many college campuses. President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976.

📢Remember: It’s important to honor, celebrate, and discuss the contributions of Black Americans throughout the whole year, not just during Black History Month.

For questions and accommodations, email [email protected].
