This year’s end-of-the-year celebration took place at Seventh College at UC San Diego, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and Dean Lisa Ordóñez for a meaningful evening of recognition, food, and reflection.

The event was a chance to celebrate the cohort’s journey through the program, thank the cohort representatives, Ethan Mun and Loviana Cushu, for their leadership, and recognize this year’s award winners:

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Triton Sustainability Challenge, a partnership between the UC San Diego Rady School Sullivan Center, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering that showcases innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Early Track:

Advanced / Research Track:

This year’s finalists presented innovative ideas ranging from coral reef restoration and ocean monitoring to clean energy optimization and oil spill recovery, competing for more than $30,000 in prize funding.

MSBA students celebrated their hard work on this year’s capstone projects at the The Rady Analytics Capstone Excellence (TRACE) Awards with food, a Jeopardy style game with prizes, and the announcement of the top capstone teams.

🏆 Winner – DataCurve
Developed an end to end unified sports fan identity platform, including fan segmentation, lifecycle management, and intelligent fan commerce.
Team: Benjamin Kleiman, Alex Matrajt Frid, Jacob Villar, Evelyn Walter

🥈 First Runner-up – Gramercy
Developed a sovereign signal dashboard for a hedge fund manager to guide investment decisions in emerging markets through an AI driven risk signal platform.
Team: Abhigna Sharma Akkipeddi, Shankar Deenadayalan, Yingtong Ji, Kelun Wang, Junzhe Zhao

🥉 Second Runner-up – Quantum Rise (Dhauz)
Developed an early warning and intervention recommendation system for patients to improve outcomes and optimize nurse workloads.

The Rady community recently came together at the Survivance Conference Center in UC San Diego’s Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood for the Rady Alumni Donor and Volunteer Appreciation Reception.

It was a meaningful evening to reconnect and celebrate the alumni, donors, and volunteers who continue to support the UC San Diego Rady School in so many ways. From mentorship and leadership to giving back their time and resources, their involvement helps strengthen the Rady community and create meaningful opportunities for students and fellow alumni.

We’re grateful for everyone who continues to stay connected and be part of the Rady School family.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Paul Wynns on successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation - Essays in Behavioral Marketing and Design Science!

Paul’s research shows how making human-AI collaboration visible can rebuild public trust in high‑stakes automation, from commercial aviation to robotic‑assisted surgery, and how design thinking practices shape innovation in complex organizations. His work sheds light on how people decide whether to trust AI systems and how leaders can design teams, interfaces, and processes that support safer, more effective human-AI collaboration.

Paul will be continuing his research with UC San Diego The Design Lab’s Center for Design‑Driven Transformation.

His doctoral committee was chaired by On Amir. Members included Wendy Liu, Michael Meyer and Piotr Winkielman.

Now in its fourteenth year, the Triton Sustainability Challenge is a collaboration between the UC San Diego Rady School, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, bringing forward innovative and environmentally focused technologies developed by the finest minds at UC San Diego.

Finalists will present their ideas to the university community and industry leaders while competing for $30,000 in prize funding.
