On October 27, 1983, Sgt. Stephen G. Trujillo was serving with Company A, 2nd Battalion (Ranger), 75th Infantry during the assault at Calivigny, Grenada.

When helicopters crashed during the landing, Trujillo ran across open ground toward the wreckage. His Silver Star citation describes enemy fire, flying shrapnel and the danger of burning aircraft.

He helped direct fellow medics, treated critically wounded soldiers and repeatedly returned to recover casualties, carrying them to a safer location.

His actions saved at least one life and earned the Silver Star.

Today, we honor a Ranger who kept going back for his brothers.
