How can members of a community practice Beloved Community? In September 2025, we hosted our first fall 2025 transformation series session with Beloved Community consultant Shirley Strong focusing on how to practice Beloved Community and the benefits and challenges of doing so.

CIIS students, staff, and faculty have access to the one hour conversation via CIIS’ Intrasite, CIIS Connect, and an edited version of the conversation is available on our YouTube channel, which you can access at the Linktree in our bio.

and CIIS Facilities/Business Operations at this week! We had wonderful, fruitful, and supportive in-person day at the Festival Pavillon in San Francisco.

We learned so much about pace, scale, and durability in every conversation and breakout room and how to slow down, ask the why of any project and process, and to work together to lift each other’s work!

Hope to be back next year! Swipe to see Patty Pforte (she/her), experiences at Together Bay Area Conference.

Rooted in the Integral principles that form the foundation and core identity California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), this series offers a reflective and experiential space for parents.

🌳

Approaching parenting through a whole-person lens, the workshops explore the five dimensions of being—physical, vital, mental, psychic, and spiritual—inviting both individual insight and collective dialogue.

🌳

Participants engage in integrative practices such as free writing, dyad reflection, group sharing, transformative imagery, nonviolent communication, and creative art-making.

🌳

Together, these sessions aim to cultivate deeper self-awareness, relational presence, and embodied wisdom in the lived experience of parenting.

The purpose of the series is to:

🪷Provide a space for both individual and communal integral self-reflection

🪷Provide a safe space for discovery and mutual support

🪷Offer a moment of reset and decompression amid parenting + general life demands

🌳For CIIS Staff and Students, register for this free online series at the Linktree in our bio.

About Our Host: Adriana Beltrame dos Santos is a mother, DCEB Program Coordinator, and East-West Psychology PhD student. Her research focuses on Integral Education in Early Childhood and the role of multidimensional development in fostering whole-person maturity and spiritual integration.

Earth Month pics from our Associate Director of Communications and Community Engagement, Patty Pforte (she/her).

For Patty, celebrating our Earth is an everyday practice. She loves slowing down and watching a bird or a bloom, hearing bird and insects call, and enjoys being in nature in her garden.

How do you celebrate Earth Month? Share your thoughts and practices in the comments.

Welcome to our series on Community Belonging and Fashion!

This short series is all about how what we wear connects us to who we are, to our communities, and to our Earth!

In this first episode Patty and Sunflower talk about Fashion and Community, referencing clothing swaps, and many other ways fashion and community interconnect.

If you are a CIIS student, faculty, or staff member, our Division hosts clothing swaps during fall and spring kickoff, and during Career Fair week in March/April.

If you are just enjoying our social media posts, continue to follow us here for more community, more fashion, more sustainability, and events open to the public!

In the Division of Community Engagement and Belonging we are so grateful for our wonderful student, staff, and faculty community, and we are reminded of special days like today.

Today, April 8 is CIIS’ founders day, where we honor Dr. Haridas Chaudhuri and his wife, Bina Chaudhuri, and Sri Aurobindo and the Mother whose was a powerful teacher of Integral Yoga and an activist for an independent India.

Our team was able to host activities for Founders Day. One was a activity celebrating prayer, specifically a gratitude to share with the world. The second was inspired by our time , which was an intentional communal floral mandala with florals from .flowers and gathered from our yards and our community connections.

Sharing our gratitude for CIIS Office of Events for leading Founders Day, for our marketing team who hosted an online and in-person “what is integral” activity, for all the speakers, for everyone who attended, and to our Earth this Earth Month.
