Happy Founders Day sisters!

Today we are celebrating 118 years of sisterhood and "love that is ever steadfast." Because of six courageous women, we have each been brought together through friendship and shared values. We continue to empower one another no matter where our lives, or the world, take us. Here's to another 118 years of sisterhood!

“It’s been a unique honor to serve as the 46th commander of WRAIR—and, with Command Sgt. Maj. Santiago, as the FIRST FEMALE command team in the institute’s 127-year history,” said Delta Zeta alumna, Army Col. (Dr.) Deydre Teyhen (Alpha Rho - Ohio Wesleyan).

Last week, Deydre closed the book on her time as the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research’s commander during the passing of the command's colors.

During her time she led the DOD’s largest biomedical research laboratory, presided over a changing institution that works to ensure relevant, fieldable infectious disease and brain health solutions for the Warfighter during Multi-Domain Operations (MDO); more recently, she also oversaw WRAIR’s participation in the whole-of-government coronavirus response.

“Fighting infectious diseases, like COVID-19, is why we exist and the team was ready to respond at the velocity of relevance because of our command emphasis on putting people first,” said Deydre.

She will now serve as the director of the Military Health System Governance for the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General in Falls Church, Virginia.

Sorority membership is going to look different this fall. But the benefits of membership haven’t gone away. If you’ve thought about joining a sorority this fall, you might be asking yourself, “Why should I join a sorority during a pandemic?” No matter where you go to school, campus life is g...

Today and everyday, may we we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of service to our country.

Today, we honor those who gave their lives in service to the United States. One of those individuals is Jennifer Moreno ‘10, a USF nursing alumna who was killed in combat in Afghanistan in 2013.

Captain Moreno was part of a special operations team that built relationships with women in Iraq and Afghanistan. She died in a bomb explosion, while running to help wounded soldiers. The 25-year-old was posthumously promoted to captain and awarded a Bronze Star with valor and a Purple Heart.

A clinic at Fort Sam Houston Army base in San Antonio was named the Captain Jennifer M. Moreno Primary Care Clinic in 2015.
