Registration for Spring classes has begun, and there are lots of changes to how students access the schedule, as well as curriculum changes in the Computer Science department! ( http://www.ccsf.edu/cs ) You can see the class schedule at: http://ccsf.edu/schedule or by logging into Web4 and searching from there.

Please be aware:
- The major problem that still remains is that ADVISORIES ARE NOT SHOWN ANYWHERE in the schedule (except in the Course Outline of Record, which is linked from the course's Learning Outcomes). The Office of Instruction is working on a solution to this problem. But in the meantime, please make sure you have taken the Advisory and Prerequisite courses before taking a more advanced course - we want you to be prepared to succeed in your courses! For more info on this, see:http://fog.ccsf.edu/~cpersiko/csDept/CS_Advising.pdf
- Also not clearly highlighted in the schedule are short-term classes - we have a lot of short-term online classes in Spring! So please look closely at start and end dates, by holding your mouse over the Meeting Times for the course. Particularly of note are the following, designed to allow students to finish faster - you can take two semesters worth of Python or Java in just one semester!
- CS 110A Intro Programming Section 961 is just in the first half of the semester
- CS 111B Java Fundamentals Section 934 is just in the second half of the semester.
- CS 131B Python Fundamentals Section 931 is just in the second half of the semester.
- CS 280 Parallel & Cloud Programming is offered for the first time in years, and the first time online! This course has a string advisory of CS 110B (or 111B)
- Finally, here's some info on curriculum changes, copied from our department web site: http://www.ccsf.edu/cs

We have made some big changes recently:

- For details on introductory classes, see:http://fog.ccsf.edu/~cpersiko/csDept/CS_Advising.pdf
- New classes!
- CS 131B Programming Fundamentals: Python - this is just a new name for the former CS 131A Python Programming. It is equivalent to CS 131A for all certificates, prerequisites, etc.
- CS 185 Exploring Game Worlds (formerly VMD 180)
- CS 256 Data Visualization
- CS 197P Technical Interview Preparation
- CS 197V Version Control & Online Code Repositories (GitHub)
- All introductory programming students should take CS 110A, which will be taught in Python. (We will no longer offer CS 111A; Java and C++ students should take CS 111B and/or 110B after 110A.)
- For introductory SQL databases, we will only offer CS 150A, which will be a general intro course. (We will no longer offer CS 151A or 155A, but we will still offer CS 151B & P and 155B & P.)

If you have questions that aren't answered above, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

New classes, and some that are rarely offered, plus new faculty in Computer Science!

Please consider taking some of the following classes which are not offered so often, or are new, or have lower enrollment so far. Our new classes are listed at the VERY END of the schedule under "Electronic Music" - sorry, the scheduling office has some challenges these days.
- New! CS 197P Technical Interview Prep - Can be taken concurrently with (or after) CS 111C/110C
- New! CS 197V Version Control & Code Repositories - This class teaches how to use GitHub and Git.
- CS 114B C # Programming
- CS 132A Ruby Programming - Two sections this Fall, so we're hoping more students sign up!
- CS 214U Unity Game Programming in C #
- CS 230W WordPress & Drupal CMS Development
- CS 311D Advanced Android Programming
- CS 151P Oracle PL/SQL Programming - Offered only once every 3 semesters!
- CS 159A Database Design and Modeling - Offered only once every 3-4 semesters!

The Fall schedule is completely accurate, at last! Our new faculty have all been hired, and some instructor and time changes that we needed to make have all been made. So please sign up for your classes before they fill!

We are excited to have Dan O'Leary teaching full-time, tenure-track now! We are also pleased to have three new part-time instructors: Deepa Mahalingam, Henry Rabinowitz, and Ajay Mittal. Each of them has years of experience teaching and/or working in industry.
