A memorial celebration honoring the legacy of former SF State Journalism lecturer, alumnus ('55), and Golden Gater editor Lynn Ludlow will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Polish Club of San Francisco.

Ludlow was a mentor to generations of students and a bedrock presence through four decades in San Francisco newsrooms. He served as editor of the Golden Gater in spring 1953, later joining faculty as a lecturer, publication advisor and writing coach for SF State journalism students from 1967 to 1987.

During more than 50 years in journalism, Ludlow covered some of the most consequential stories and newsmakers of his era. His courageous values and ethical compass strengthened all of the journalists and journalism he touched over his distinguished career.

In his latest documentary project, SF State Journalism photojournalism Professor Emeritus Ken Kobre tells the story of Baby Z in 'Life with Half a Brain.' What if doctors told you the way to fix your infant son's chronic seizures was to remove nearly half his brain? Zacchaio Thiele's parents faced just such a decision: A hemispherectomy to help save their son's life. 'Life with Half a Brain' is free to stream on Tubi, or available to rent or buy on Prime Video.

Go inside the lives of several people navigating the world with epileptic seizures, each with their own unique story, perspective and struggle.

Terrific story by KQED's Madi Bolanos shines spotlight on a wicked chapter of Palm Springs history when the city bulldozed and burned hundreds of homes of black and brown families.

Negotiations continue over some type of compensation for Black and Latino residents who were burned out of their neighborhood 60 years ago. How the city of Palm Springs chooses to move forward could set a national precedent for reparations.

Racist emails. Swatting. Intimidated sources. The Haitian Times has been receiving some of the same threats that it has been covering in Springfield, Ohio.
