"I had no idea of what career I wanted to pursue. The program [CityBuild] really helped me narrow down what trade I wanted to be involved in. But I now have a sense of direction in my life thanks to CityBuild. I am proud of what I have accomplished and there’s still a long way to go. I am excited for what the future holds for me."

Sponsored by Redhawk Glass as a glazier apprentice at DC16 Iupat Local 718, Oscar Delao works installing windows for UCSF's Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute Relocation to Mt. Zion Project.

As an Anchor Institution, UCSF is proud to help local SF residents like Oscar start their careers in construction, made possible through our partnership with CityBuild.

Wanted! Rec-Park and its project partners are seeking local building professionals who will create the City’s next great waterfront park. 900 Innes Phase 2, which is now out to bid, is part of the larger India Basin Waterfront Park Project. It follows the Phase I environmental cleanup of the site.

The India Basin Waterfront Park Project is guided by an Equitable Development Plan (EDP), a first for San Francisco, with the goal of delivering a park designed by and for Bayview-Hunters Point.

A major strategy of the EDP is to create and sustain neighborhood jobs and encourage local firms to participate in construction work at the park. The recently posted bid encourages local contractors and subcontractors to apply. It also utilizes a Best Value contract, where selection is based on objective criteria to determine the best combination of price and qualifications.

APRI will host a contractor and subcontractor meet-and-greet at the park on Thursday, March 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer questions about this bid package and connect local businesses with one another. In partnership with the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) and its CityBuild Academy, APRI is also hosting as series of community orientations for free construction trainings ahead of 900 Innes Phase 2 construction that is set to begin this summer. Completion of the training allow graduates access to construction jobs that pay union wages for this second phase for the India Basin Waterfront Park Project and beyond.

Bids are due on Wednesday, April 13 by 2:30 p.m. For more information, including bid links, click here: https://bit.ly/3CJ103s
