UPDATE: A Staten Island grand jury has voted not to bring criminal charges in the death of Eric Garner that was caught on videotape. DO YOU STILL THINK BODYCAMERAS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

Our question is, are you surprised? Now they will make an attempt at demonizing Garner... watch the system work. Our issue is we need to stop having faith in it.

Eric Garner, 43, died Thursday after a sidewalk takedown by five (some in plain clothes) NYPD officers making an arrest outside a Tompkinsville beauty parlor. Garner, a 400 pound asthmatic, was slammed to the ground and the video shows his head being slammed against the sidewalk.

He screamed, “I can’t breathe!” SIX times………….. Within moments Garner, a married father of six children with two grandchildren, stopped struggling and appeared to be unconscious as police called paramedics to the scene.

THANK YOU to Orta for having the sense to videotape this entire encounter. You KNOW what they'd say if there was no video, "he choked himself".

Black Women's Appreciation: Natural At Her Finest.

“Black Women’s Appreciation” is a formal, banquet-style event held in honor of African- American women; recognizing their struggle, strength, beauty, elegance, and accomplishments they have contributed to the world as a whole, our civilization, and throughout history. At this event we want to stress the theme , "Natural at Her Finest" , and embrace the Natural essence of Black women. In addition, women were catered to and served by the men of SFSU and honored with a full program of events, talents, and great food.
