REACH is proud to be recognized as a certified SF Green Business. San Francisco Green Business Program

For the last 8 months REACH has been adopting all the green measures required by the SF Green Business program.

These measures include:

Retrofiting old light bulbs with LEDs
Installing aerators in sinks
Installing low flush toilets and shower heads
Disposing of toxic cleaning supplies at Recology
Adopting a environmentally preferable purchasing policy
Using 100% recycled paper
Recycling and composting
And more

We just inspired students from Rising Sun Energy center to make a rap about being green. This is after hosting 4 workshops with them about energy conservation, lighting and solar. Check out this raw and uncut video.

Just got back from teaching students at Rising Sun Energy Center about solar energy. Working with Solar City on the 16th to host a solar installation training for the same group. Stay tuned. This is all part of an effort to help these students find green jobs.

REACH The Future Just read this front to back and am making all our employees read it too. This is a great paper to show companies why integrating CSR programs are important. For them, the question is shifting from "Why will CSR pad my bottom line?" to "Are we willing to risk not adopting a CSR program?" When companies calculate the risk of doing business at the expense of ignoring public interest, social welfare and the environment, CSR should always pop up as a sound investment for long term gain.

Working with students at Marin Academy to learn about lighting efficiency and energy conservation. Students conducted an energy audit of the lighting in their school buildings and presented solutions to conserve energy and resources in their school. Blog post to follow in the next few days to give more details about the project.

We just finished our first film for Elemental LED, showcasing the impact of their LED lights off-grid in Nicaragua. Thanks ELemental LED for making this contribution and having a huge impact in people's lives off-grid and for SunPower for providing the panels for this installation. This project was all part of a larger project to showcase the impact of Power to the People's work installing solar panels off-grid. Power to the People's film specifically about the impact of their work in many off-grid communities is coming soon. Stay Tuned!
