The University of the Pacific community mourns the passing of Elvira Fiorentino, a proud Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry alumna and a professor and group practice leader in the Department of Clinical Oral Health Care. She was 57.

Elvira Fiorentino ’98, a faculty member and alumna of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry who helped expand access to dental care in the community, died April 26 in Petaluma, California.

Dugoni School of Dentistry and University of the Pacific School of Health Sciences, and other community partners who participated!

We’re building something exciting in San Francisco! Our new Ambulatory Surgery Center and Multidisciplinary Advanced Care Clinics are designed to expand access, remove barriers and train the next generation of specialists, all while delivering compassionate, expert care to every patient. Our fundraising campaign committee recently held a kick-off event to mark a construction milestone!

The 13,000-square-foot facility will be fully accessible, sensory-friendly and purpose-built for patients who need specialized care environments or anesthesia.

California faces a critical shortage of specialty dental care, especially for children and adults with developmental disabilities, sensory challenges or complex medical needs. This new facility on the 1st floor of our San Francisco Campus will help close that gap, tripling our capacity to serve these patients each year. It will serve those most often turned away elsewhere including children with autism, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, seniors with dementia and other patients who face steep barriers to care.
