Congratulations to the Class of 2026!! On Friday, May 22, we gathered in St. Ignatius Church to celebrate these outstanding graduates. 🎓

Over the past few years, these showed up for each other, pushed through challenges, gave back to the community, and embraced new ways of thinking about the legal profession.

Now they leave USF Law ready to begin careers across the country, in courtrooms, boardrooms, nonprofits, startups, public service, and everywhere in between. We can’t wait to see what they do next!

An afternoon full of laughter, stories, and deep appreciation for Professor Alice Kaswan as we celebrated her upcoming retirement after 27 years at .

In moving and memorable toasts, colleagues and former students reflected on her influence in the classroom and beyond.

Thankfully, as Professor Kaswan pointed out, she’s still on campus for a few more weeks, so we’re not saying goodbye just yet. 💚💛

Alumni Robert Arns ’75 and Thomas Brandi ’72 have spent decades taking on powerful interests in the courtroom. Now, through a $1.86 million gift, part of a combined $3.25 million lifetime commitment to USF, they’re ensuring the next generation of students is ready to do the same.

The newly established Arns & Brandi Trial Institute brings together curriculum, experiential learning, and advocacy training into one comprehensive program, preparing graduates to step into the courtroom with confidence from day one.

“I am grateful to Bob and Tom for this extraordinary gift,” said Dean Johanna Kalb. “As alumni, longtime faculty, and two of the finest trial lawyers this school has produced, they have already shaped a generation of advocates. Today, on World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the International Human Rights Clinic, in partnership with , filed 15 landmark complaints before the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Each complaint tells the story of a Kenyan migrant domestic worker who experienced abuse, neglect, and denial of medical care under Saudi Arabia’s kafala system, resulting in blindness, paralysis, chronic illness, and in one case, death.

By leveraging an international disability rights treaty in a new way, Cilnic Director and Professor Lindsay M. Harris and student-clinicians are pushing the boundaries of human rights advocacy, centering survivor voices and demanding accountability on a global stage.
