We're looking forward to (virtually) seeing all of you Monday evening for another Slugs & Steins! Our guest will be Literature Prof. John Jordan on "Reading Dickens Today". If you'd like to get in the “Dickensian” state of mind, join the UCSC Dickens Project Sunday evening 4-5:16 for "Christmas with Dickens, A New Twist on an Old Ghost Story", an original readers' theater piece written by JoAnna Rottke and directed by Karen Schamberg. A Q&A session will follow the performance. More info:

Charles Dickens just wants to talk about his book, A Christmas Carol, but what happens when spirits start to show up? Is Dickens being guilt-tripped by his estranged wife, Catherine; haunted by the Ghost of Christmas Present; regretting his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge? And what is Queen Victoria d...

First, if you're feeling well, please join us on Monday. If you've never listened to a "digital historian," now's your chance.

Second there's COVID-19. UC Santa Cruz is carefully monitoring the situation with COVID-19, the coronavirus, and the impact on events and meetings. We encourage you to take the following steps to ensure that the experience is healthy and safe for you and our other guests:

Consider this a "handshake-free" gathering; we welcome creative alternative greetings!
If you are not feeling well, or have been exposed to someone with flu-like symptoms, please stay home.
We recommend hand washing on arrival before you enjoy a bite & a pint.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Dear Members: We have been informed that our name "UCSC Prof and a Pint" is infringing on a corporation's trademark. We do not wish to be mistaken for that company, so we are currently searching for a new name. Reply with your ideas and suggestions! We'll hold a vote by show-of-hands at the next meetup on Monday March 9th. Put on your Professor hats and let's see some alternative alliterations!
